Obituary for Ralph Raymond Toy

Ralph Raymond Toy, age 92, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Vintage Park Assisted Living Community in Paola, Kansas. He was born March 25, 1926, in Reesedale, Pennsylvania, the son of Austin and Ruth (John) Toy.

Ralph was a 1944 graduate of Reesedale High School, in Reesedale, Pennsylvania. He was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II, and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years. After the military Ralph worked in the maintenance department for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, for 25 years. He enjoyed building clocks, was a member of the Monett Rifle Club and enjoyed shooting single shot black powered rifles.

On December 2, 1960, he married Vurnona Carter in Marceline, Missouri.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vurnona; one daughter, Deanna French and her husband, Michael, of Paola, Kansas; two grandchildren, Lauren French-Daru and her husband, Jerry, of Lawrence, Kansas and David French and his wife, Amber, of Louisburg, Kansas; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, William, Noah and Nora.

His parents, Austin and Ruth, and six brothers and sisters, preceded him in death.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made payable to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
