Obituary for Lois Butler Mynatt

Lois Butler Mynatt, 93, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, entered the pearly gates of Heaven into her Savior’s arms on April 23, 2018. Recently, when she was very ill and in the hospital, she sat straight up in bed and exclaimed, “Swing open those pearly gates…I’m coming through!” She was quite disappointed to find that she was still here on earth as she had been ready to “go home” for quite some while. This time, she did indeed enter those pearly gates to be greeted by the many friends and family that have gone on before her. Those greeting her on the other side include Floyd Butler, her first husband and father of her children, and Lawrence “Blackie” Mynatt, her second husband. She loved them both and often said that the Lord had given her two wonderful men who loved her. Also greeting her there are her parents, a brother, and four sisters. She was looking forward to seeing her son, Gary Butler, whom she has missed since 2008.

Those wishing they could hug her just one more time include her son, Ray Butler and his wife, Francine, of Spring, Texas; daughter, Linda Butler Auman and her husband, Buddy, of Springdale, Arkansas; sister Verna Rickman and her husband, Jim, of Joplin, Missouri; bonus children, Janice Mynatt Sims of Columbia, Missouri, Sue Mynatt Shook of Republic, Missouri, and Michael Mynatt of London, Kentucky. She was MaMaw to six grandchildren and BaBa to four grandchildren, and dearly loved by many great- grandchildren, family and countless friends. She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, playing games, and keeping up with family on her iPad. She won so many bingo and card games that she was known as “Lucky Lois”.

Lois was a woman of strong faith and could be counted on to help pray you through whatever trouble you might be facing. Those who were on her prayer list will truly miss her daily prayers for us. She chose the perfect career for her nurturing and kind spirit as she was a nurse at the Missouri State Chest Hospital in Mount Vernon, Missouri for 35 years. She loved Jesus, her family, friends and the color pink.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home 510 E. Cherry St., Mt. Vernon, Missouri 65712.

A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery, with Bro. Bill Pettigrew of Peaceful Valley Bible Church in Springdale, Arkansas officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Peaceful Valley Bible Church, 2203 S. 40th Street, Springdale, Arkansas 72762.
