Obituary for Larry Tracy

Larry Tracy, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 5:46 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at his home. He was born February 15, 1935, in St. Michaels, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Frankie (Campbell) Tracy.

Larry was a graduate of Golden Colorado High School and was a United States Navy Veteran. He was the Fire Chief for the McCook, Nebraska, Fire Department for three years and he retired after 23 years as a fire fighter for Littleton, Colorado. While a fire fighter in Littleton he organized the fire fighters union and was elected as the first president. He was proud of his home and loved working in the yard and doing wood working. He was a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church.

On April 21, 2001, he married Patricia McPherson, in Mt. Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Pat; one son, Robert McPherson and his wife, Stacey, of Branson, Missouri; one daughter, Heather Dennis and her husband, John, of Hollister, Missouri, two sisters, Margye Tucker of Wolfe City, Texas and Lonnie Baugh of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, David Blunk, Grayson, Sydney and Brayden Dennis and Makynzie McPherson; several nieces, nephews and his fire fighter brothers.

His parents, Frank and Frankie, and son, Tim Tracy, preceded him in death.

A funeral service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Round Grove Baptist Church, west of Miller. Private burial will follow at the Spring River Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, in the funeral home chapel.

Memorial donations may be made payable to the Round Grove Baptist Church or the donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.
