Obituary for Bonnie Lou Richesin

Bonnie Lou Friar Richesin, of Lawrence County Manor Residential Care Facility and a long time Miller resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born December 29, 1924, near Everton, Missouri, to Joshua and Emmer Friar. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 56 years, Bill Richesin; her siblings Eugene Friar, Dorothy Holmes, and Helen Bertelsen.

She is survived by her three daughters Jeanne Heitmeyer (Lawrence) of Tallahassee, Florida; Carla Wilson (Galen) of Miller; Cheryl Richesin (Michael) of Toronto, Canada; three grandchildren Shawnda Davis (Jayson), Angela Ayers (Warren), Richesin Heitmeyer (Lauren); six great-grandchildren Trent and Layne Ayers, Jared and Wyatt Davis, and Haley and Landon Heitmeyer; her beloved sister, Martha Myers (Treacil) and numerous nieces and nephews.


Bonnie completed Draun Business College in Springfield, Missouri, and then she worked in Kansas City and Springfield. She also taught school in Lawrence County at Sycamore, a one room schoolhouse, riding her horse to and from school. Upon his return from World War II, she married Bill Richesin June 15, 1946. Bonnie cherished her family and always created a warm, loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful grandmother who loved walking with her dogs, and cooking for her family. She was a 4-H and JFA Youth Leader. She taught Sunday school at the Miller United Methodist Church where she was a long time member. She loved singing in church with her sisters. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with internment following at the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Shiloh Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
