Obituary for Acquilla Doris Murray

Acquilla Doris Murray, age 88, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. She was born May 7, 1929, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Aldo and Inez (Pickett) Gregg.

Acquilla was a 1946 high school graduate and received her Licensed Practical Nursing training in Marshall, Texas. She was a nurse at the St. Joseph Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri and at the Sarcoxie Nursing Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

On February 26, 1967, she married Harold Murray in Newton, Mississippi.

Acquilla is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold; her sister-in-law, Judy Gregg of Kentucky; nephew, Wayne and two nieces, Bonnie and Connie.

Her parents, Aldo and Inez, and her brother, Aaron Gregg, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

Memorial donations may be made payable to the Baptist Children’s Home, in care of the funeral home.
